Rare earth roll and induced roll separators carry dry feed over a magnetic roll on a very thin belt. Thickness is a performance setting rather than a preference: every extra thou between the feed and the roll costs field strength, so the belt is specified as thin as the feed will allow and replaced when the ore wears through it.
